HOW TO WASH AND DRY POLYESTER

A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

MACHINE WASHING
If your care label permits machine washing, follow these guidelines to maintain the quality of your polyester items.

STEP 1
Pre-treat any oil-based stains with a detergent or stain remover before washing. Rinse the stained areas thoroughly to remove excess residue.

STEP 2
Turn the polyester garment inside out to protect its surface. For added protection, place the item in a mesh or GUPPYFRIEND® washing bag to prevent snags and minimize damage.

STEP 3
Avoid overloading the washing machine to ensure garments have enough room to move freely. Wash similar colors together to prevent color transfer.

STEP 4
Add an appropriate amount of detergent based on the load size. You may also include fabric softener to help reduce static cling.

STEP 5
Select a 30-degree machine wash cycle to clean the garment effectively without causing unnecessary wear.

HAND WASHING
If hand washing is recommended on the care label:

STEP 1
Dissolve a small amount of delicate wash detergent in lukewarm water, not exceeding 30°C, in a clean bowl.

STEP 2
Submerge the garment and gently agitate the water with your hands to ensure even distribution of soap.

STEP 3
Let the item soak for up to 20 minutes to loosen dirt and residues.

STEP 4
Rinse the garment thoroughly with cool water. Avoid wringing; instead, press out excess water gently to prevent distortion.

DRYING
Proper drying is crucial to maintain the shape and appearance of your polyester garments.

STEP 1
Hang or line dry the garment. Check the care label to determine if you should avoid direct sunlight, as this can affect the color or print.

STEP 2
Avoid using heat or tumble drying, as this may cause gradual shrinkage and affect the fabric’s longevity.

STEP 3
To remove any creases, turn the item inside out and use a warm iron on the reverse side. This helps maintain the garment’s smooth appearance without damaging the surface.
